Intelligent power management – our newest technology and why it matters

A battery that won’t let you down – how our Series 5 Pro headset uses Intelligent Power Management to outlast the competition.

At VoCoVo, our mission has always been the same- to reduce the pressure on colleagues by enabling effortless in-store communication. We’ve taken this to a new level with our Series 5 Pro headset, using the latest in digital signalling and noise cancelling technology to provide the clearest possible conversations.

But sound quality isn’t the only thing that matters. If colleagues are going to embrace smart technology, they need to know that it won’t let them down during a long shift. That’s why we’ve pulled out all the stops to produce our longest lasting battery ever.

By only powering up the features that are in use, the Series 5 Pro can manage multiple shifts on a single charge. This is Intelligent Power Management, and it makes a huge difference to battery life. Here’s a look at how it works, and why a better battery is the key to a happier shop floor .

Colleagues need reassurance

Retail vacancies may have peaked, but they are still higher than they were before the pandemic. This has put pressure on remaining colleagues, forcing them to alter their way of working at short notice. Our recent survey of colleagues and decision makers showed just how serious the problem has become:

  • 75% of colleagues are being forced to juggle multiple tasks
  • 40% of decision makers consider labour shortages to be their biggest challenge

With one in five colleagues planning to quit the sector, you need to do everything you can to ease this pressure. Smart technology has the potential to help, but many colleagues are sceptical:

  • 39% of colleagues feel that smart technology can’t help them to meet the challenges of the shop floor
  • 41% believe that head office implements smart technology without considering their needs.

If attitudes are going to change, colleagues have to feel that they can trust smart technology. This means reassuring them that devices won’t let them down at crucial moments. Our Series 4 headset did this by providing double the battery life of our competitors, but we wanted to take things even further with the Series 5 Pro. This is where Intelligent Power Management comes in.

More power to you

Each iteration of our headset has offered a longer battery life than the one before. We’ve always outperformed our competitors, but that’s not enough for us. We don’t just want to be the best on the market. We want to be the best we can be.

To do this, we needed to solve a persistent problem. Headsets would deplete at the same rate regardless of how they were used. This is because the battery was powering every feature, whether or not it was in use. The technology of the day made this inevitable, but now things have changed.

Our new battery is smaller and smarter than ever before. It conserves every last drop of energy by only powering the features that are in use. This makes a huge difference to both charging time and battery life:

  • 40 hours of standby time from a single charge
  • Up to 12 hours of talk time
  • A 50% charge in just 30 minutes and a full charge in just two hours
  • The only headset on the market that can last multiple shifts over a two day period

Battery-powered empowerment

Impressive as these figures are, the exact numbers aren’t really important. What matters is the peace of mind they represent. Intelligent Power Management lets colleagues face every shift with confidence, safe in the knowledge that help is never far away.
